Muhammad Faryad is a computational physicist and is an associate professor at LUMS. He obtained his PhD degree in engineering science and mechanics from the Pennsylvania State University in 2012 with the best dissertation award by the university. He was awarded the Galleino Denardo award by the Abdus Salam International Center of Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in 2019. He is a Tier 2 IBM Qiskit Advocate, IBM QAMP mentor, and quantum educator. His research interests include applications of quantum machine learning and noise resilience of quantum algorithms.

内容摘要:

Quantum machine learning sits at the intersection of quantum computing and data-driven modelling, promising computational advantages for learning tasks that challenge classical methods. This talk introduces the techniques of quantum machine learning, and its applications in real world problems, with emphasis on what is feasible today and what is realistically emerging in the near term. I will introduce core machine learning paradigms in quantum computing, such as quantum support vector machines and quantum variational circuits, and discuss how they map onto real-world problems under current noise constraints. Selected case studies will also be presented from the supervised classification problems.
