任宽芳，法国鲁昂大学终身教授，全法中国科技工作者协会副理事长，西电华山学者讲座教授。毕业于陕西师范大学物理系，获西安电子科技大学无线电物理硕士学位，先后在陕西师范大学和西安电子科技大学任教。90年代初公派赴法国留学，获鲁昂大学博士学位，长期在法国科学研究中心6614研究所从事研究工作，在法国鲁昂大学任教。在波束散射、颗粒测量技术研发等领域取得了国际领先的研究成果。提出了“波的射线理论”，为解决波与大尺寸目标相互作用问题提供了完整解决方案，现已完成核心算法和实验验证，并应用到了椭球、真实液柱和悬挂液滴等目标的散射计算。在国际刊物上发表论文110余篇，开发科技软件6个，先后主持和参加了多项欧共体及法国的科研项目。
内容摘要：
The Ray Theory of Waves (RTW) is simple regarding its principle and mathematical formulation. Yet it is a powerful tool in resolving theoretical and practical problems concerning the interaction of a wave with a large object of any shape with smooth surface which is a bottleneck problem encountered in different domains such as the optical characterization of atomization process of fuel in motors, thelectromagnetic scattering of large non-spherical objects (raindrops, aircraft, etc.). The RTW may also be used to improve the optical design and computer graphics. This talk will present the fundamental principle and some typical applications to demonstrate the simplicity and power of the RTW. The potential applications in different fields such as electromagnetic computation, image formation, computer graphics will also be discussed.
